New talent Yasmin de Laine releases new single 'Laura Elsa'

Melbourne based new talent Yasmin de Laine has today released her new single ‘Laura Elsa’, which will feature on her debut EP Each Heart Devours The Other due for release in May.

‘Laura Elsa’ is a dark, hypnotic gothic-folk-bluegrass track with a sparse musical skeleton which lends a haunting air to the song. Based on a true story, the lyrics tell of female anger and retribution.

“‘Laura Elsa’ is inspired by a true story my grandmother told me about an event during her childhood in smalltown rural Australia,” de Laine says. “This song intersects my love for old-time murder ballads, my desire for more stories about female rage and retribution, and my fascination for smalltown whispers and stories that time has forgotten.”

Born and raised in South Australia, de Laine is an exciting new voice in gothic-folk and alongside fronting hardcore band Lua, she has released four singles as a solo artist. Her debut solo EP Each Heart Devours The Other will be released in May this year and explores the themes of familial bonds and the nature of our creator at the end of the world.

De Laine creates music that will make you feel every time you listen to it. It is unique, challenging and immersive, and once you connect to it it will leave its mark. Add her to your playlist now.
