JACOTÉNE releases new single 'Why'd You Do That?'

After the release of her debut EP Untitled (Read My Mind) in June, rising star JACOTÉNE has returned with new music in the form of single ‘Why’d You Do That?’

Co-written by JACOTÉNE with Jarrad Rogers, Oliver Rodigan and Pure Bliss, and produced by Cadenza, ‘Why’d You Do That?’ is a brooding, soul-trip hop blend that builds into a staccato, parade ground drum beat towards the end.

Lyrically, JACOTÉNE sings of being betrayed by a lover, causing the end of their relationship. ‘I can't believe you told me a lie / I can't believe we're saying goodbye,’ she sings, however there is strength in the heartbreak as she takes control of the situation ‘But I won't let you break my heart…I'm done waiting for you.’

Recorded between Australia and the UK ‘Why’d You Do That’ is the first taste of JACOTÉNE’s next creative era after the release of her debut EP Untitled (Read My Mind) which she said was born from “a place of isolation, uncertainty and change.” and contained some of her most personal lyrics ever.

After a raft of shows across the UK and Europe over the last few months, she will be rounding off the northern summer with a festival appearance in Germany and a headline show in London at the end of the month.

With an incredible voice that hits you in the feels immediately, and a beautifully dreamy soundscape it is no surprise that JACOTÉNE is being touted as one of the most exciting new artists in music today.
