Australian rapper-singer Tkay Maidza today releases her new single ‘WUACV’, the third single from her upcoming new album Sweet Justice, out November 3.

With a beat that switches between squelchy and chomping, Maidza uses the song to unleash her anger on the people who were previously in her life. Her voice goes on a journey throughout the song, from exhausted frustration to low and husky through to rapid fire rage. “I just woke up and chose violence” she raps.

“I wanted to write a song where I could express my bubbling anger toward people who had manipulated me during the last phase of my life,” Maidza says of the story behind the song.

‘WUACV’ follows up Maidza’s July single ‘Ring-a-Ling’ and her collaboration with Flume ‘Silent Assassin’. All feature on her second full length studio album Sweet Justice, alongside collaborations with Lolo Zouaï, Amber Mark, Duckwrth, Stint and Kaytranada. Released on November 3, the album is the result of an epiphany Maidza had personally and professionally that led her to cut off the toxic figures that populated the last chapter of her life. It sees Maidza reclaiming her self-worth and belief, harnessing the power that was always within her, as well as fully embracing the creative paths she wants to explore.

One of music’s most fascinating and remarkable young performers, Maidza won an ARIA Award for Best Soul/R&B Release in 2021 and has toured with Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa and Lizzo as well as performing a headline set at Australia’s Splendour in the Grass Festival. With a global tour kicking off in November, alongside the release of Sweet Justice the end of 2023 is going to be full of Maidza delights and the perfect way to round off your year.

‘WUACV’ is out now via Dew Process/Universal Music. You can buy and stream here.
Sweet Justice will be released on November 3 digitally and on transparent red vinyl. You can pre-order and pre-save now.
