Rising talent Ayesha Madon releases new single 'Goldfish'

Sydney born, Melbourne based singer Ayesha Madon is fast becoming one of Australia’s hottest new talents, with her creativity spilling over into multiple disciplines.

Alongside her career as a singer and songwriter Madon is also an actor and is due to be on screens from September 14 in the lead role of Amerie in Netflix AU/NZ’s reboot of the Heartbreak High series.

She has recently released her new single ‘Goldfish’, her second since her debut ‘Outside of the Party’ dropped in 2020. The track is a smooth pop-R&B track with dreamy melodies that envelope you in a warm hug of bliss. Lyrically the track explores the anxieties and stress that come with trying to live up to your dreams and ambitions, with Madon’s vocals moving from a staccato punch to soaring passion.

“I wrote ‘Goldfish’ about a fantasy I sometimes have which involves being content living a hyper-simple and strictly functional life,” she says. “I wonder if I was in a bowl with no perceived past or future whether I’d feel less so… but really I’m just a freak with too much time writing about marine life, it’s not that deep! As I’ve gotten older, the more I have, the more I do, the more I want, the more anxious I become. The expectations I set for my future self as a kid have put intense pressure on my adult self to live up to my old definition of success and my relationship with nostalgia has always been very intense and sacred to the point where I’ve let it dictate my life.” 

Madon is performing at BIGSOUND this week and continues to work on new music, including writing and recording in the US. With music that is relatable and creeps through your ears straight to your heart, Madon is shaping up to be a really exciting talent, and definitely someone to keep an eye on.
