Jorja Smith drops first new music of 2025 'The Way I Love You'
Published: 5 May 2025
Acclaimed British artist Jorja Smith has released her first new music of 2025 with the single ‘The Way I Love You’.
Marking an exciting new sonic direction for Smith, ‘The Way I Love You’ is a bass heavy track that mixes electronic pop and house music with bursts of strings and distorted vocals. With an unusual structure that doesn’t break the song up into the traditional sections of popular music, the song feels firmly rooted in a euphoric, timeless, non-stop dancefloor session.
Converse to the soundscape, the lyrics speak of the frustration, confusion and pain of a relationship that is not working out: “I know you don't tell me everything / But whеre do we go from herе?…Don't you know that I could never love somebody else the way I love you.”
“‘The Way I Love You’ is just so much fun. It takes me back in time - there’s something nostalgic about it but now at the same time,” Smith says. “I had the pleasure of working with Maverick Sabre, Ed Thomas and Shayk on this one. Every time I play it with my girls, I get so hyped - it’s a proper head-skanker.”
The song comes off the back of Smith’s North American tour and a lighting quick, 48 hour stop in Australia for a surprise performance exclusive to those who had competed in the Nike After Dark run. It comes ahead of her seven date UK & Ireland tour that kicks off on 29 May in Manchester, before shows in Wolverhampton, Dublin and London. See below for dates and ticket info.
Smith has attracted widespread acclaim since the release of her 2018 debut album Lost & Found, achieving a Grammy nomination and winning two Brit Awards. She released her second album flying or falling in 2023 which produced the hit single ‘Little Things’.
Smith’s music, from her R&B foundation through to lush ballads and more pop inspired tunes, has showcased her as one of this decade’s most remarkable and versatile talents, with an almost prescient ability to connect to you directly with her sound and voice as well as her honest and relatable stories. After a period of reflection and growth, Smith appears to now be at her most creative and assured and ‘The Way I Love You’ proves she is undoubtedly one of music’s most commanding artists.
