Australia’s Meg Mac today returns with the remarkable single ‘Is It Worth Being Sad’ her first new music in close to three years.

A truly breathtaking soundscape, the track is almost cinematic in scope. Beginning with a choral chant, Mac’s emotive vocals dominate a minimal background until a pulsing yet gentle electronic beat kicks in before launching into a soaring and passionate chorus. Produced by The Donuts (H.E.R., Kendrick Lamar), the song is expertly created, allowing Mac’s remarkable vocal to take centre stage creating an intense emotional connection whilst maintaining a minimalist production backbone.

Rooted in Mac’s own personal struggles, the song reflects a rebirth for her. "I had just run away to the country," she says. "I was running away from my troubles. I was living in peace and quiet finally and really thought I'd figured it all out, and it was all smooth sailing ahead. It was the start of sorting out my life. This song was like my first step - I didn't know it then, though.”

Today also marks the release of the hypnotic music video for ‘Is It Worth Being Sad’. Directed by Alissa Torvinen, it was shot in Portland and, like the inspiration behind the song, shows Mac moving through stormy weather into peace and calm.

Since first releasing music almost 10 years ago, Mac has always been an artist of extreme talent and creativity, who has consistently released music that is not only warm and relatable, but also intelligent and thought-provoking. ‘Is It Worth Being Sad’ shows Mac sounding more assured and confident than ever and her upcoming music in 2022 is destined to be her best yet.
