Larissa Lambert releases new single 'Blood On The Strings' and announces debut album 'Yearning' will be released in September
Australian R&B artist Larissa Lambert has released her new single ‘Blood On The Strings’ and announced her debut album Yearning will be released on 18 September.
A raw and personal song exploring mental health and unlearning toxic patterns, Lambert says ‘Blood On The Strings’ is “a story of letting go, unlearning toxic traits and moving forward.”
A gentle, semi-acoustic song that gradually introduces a subtle R&B beat and distorted vocals, Lambert sings of how her healing has come through the art of writing. “I traded the knife in my back for a pen / To write my wrongs / I dug through the darkest parts of my soul to write this song / And though I won't be healed today / I'll start to think.”
‘Blood On The Strings’ follows the April single ‘I Love You Out Loud’ and both songs will feature on Lambert’s highly anticipated debut album Yearning, which is due for release on 18 September. Created with producer Khaled Rohaim (Rihanna, Ariana Grande, The Kid LAROI), the album explores love in all its forms: romantic love, self-love, longing, heartbreak, healing, and the transformation that comes from choosing peace over chaos.
“I want this album to linger with people, I want it to feel nostalgic and emotional, something people can come back to years later and still feel exactly where they were when they first heard it,” Lambert says. "I used to feel like pain was the only thing that made music meaningful. This was the first time I created from a place of genuine happiness and peace. Yearning is still emotional and vulnerable, but it’s softer too. It’s about love, healing, longing, and learning that depth doesn’t always have to come from suffering.”
Originally from Ballarat in regional Victoria, Lambert had a breakthrough moment in 2021 when her cover of the SWV song ‘Weak’ went viral, accumulating over 300 million streams global, and in particular making her a sensation in Asia. Her follow up single ‘wyd?’ scored over 30 million streams in China alone, and she has since steadily achieved critical and commercial success, including being praised by international superstars including SZA, Justin Bieber, and Ty Dolla $ign. Late last year, she was also named R&B Rookie of the Month by Billboard.
