British-Caribbean-Australian, ARIA-nominated artist Chanel Loren returns today with her first new music of 2026, the single ‘Growing Pains’.

A captivating soul-pop-indie blend, the song explores the shock we experience as we transform into adults, with the sudden realisation we have to be “grown up” and feeling like maybe we aren’t doing it as well as everyone else. “Everybody’s growing up / Meanwhile I can not decide what I want for lunch,” Loren sings.

“‘Growing Pains’ is about the quiet tension between keeping up with life and learning to let things happen naturally,” Loren says. “As milestones stack up, expectations grow louder and societal pressure begins to weigh heavily on me. The only way I can measure the years is through archived photographs and social media past reminders. Growing pains are no longer a physical sensation but visual.”

“The idea for ‘Growing Pains’ began in my bedroom after scrolling through social media and seeing a schoolmate achieve a major milestone,” Loren continues. “It sparked the realisation, “we’re not kids anymore.” I wrote the first two lines in a self-deprecating moment and carried on with my night. Months later in London, while creating music with the talented duo Aquilo, those thoughts resurfaced. Because at that time it felt like everyone around me was experiencing their own growing pains. While freestyling melodies, the lines re-emerged instinctively and we all ran with the idea which bloomed “Growing Pains”.

Releasing her first single ‘Playlist’ in 2022, Loren received an ARIA Award nomination in the Best Soul/R&B Release for her single ‘Rollin’’ in 2023. Her debut EP BETWEEN2WORLDS dropped in 2024 and she launched the next era of her music at the end of last year with the singles ‘Autopilot’ and ‘Fantasy Camera’. Now with ‘Growing Pains’, Loren continues her steady rise as one of Australia’s premier soul-R&B artists.
