Acclaimed Melbourne based singer-songwriter Woodes (real name Elle Graham) has returned with her new music and video ‘Forever After’. It is her first new solo release since her debut album Crystal Ball in 2020.

A gentle, wistful song, it mixes guitar-indie-pop with a hint of electronic pop in its minimalist verses with Woodes’ angelic voice effortlessly gliding over the top of the soundscape. Written in the aftermath of a relationship breakdown, it speaks of the grieving process and the journey of discovering love again.

“I wrote ‘Forever After’ about love and the process of moving on, alongside grief,” Woodes says. “I started writing this at the start of 2022, after the breakdown of a relationship. I packed my things and moved interstate. 'Forever After' was the thought that I wouldn't want to erase the love or the story; they’re a part of me forever. Personally, I was rebuilding everything around me, including my relationship with music after the time in the pandemic. I found myself playing piano again, writing songs to heal. I found myself hiking and returning to nature, starting to reconnect with myself. I'm so proud of the process. It feels like my most personal work."

Also out now is the music video for ‘Forever After’. Directed by Nick Mckk (Julia Jacklin, Stella Donnelly) it was filmed in The Grampians region of Victoria.

Woodes first broke onto the international radar in 2016 when she released her self-titled debut EP. She has since toured with artists including Thelma Plum, Asgier and Sylvan Esso and performed at prestigious festivals including Splendour in the Grass and SXSW. Her 2017 collaboration with electronic duo Set Mo ‘I Belong Here’ went platinum in Australia, racking up 23 million streams to date on Spotify alone and her high fashion videos, stage shows and art concepts has also resulted in her modelling for Chanel and David Jones. Now signed to Nettwork Music Group, Woodes has more new music coming throughout 2023 and judging by ‘Forever After’ it promises to be some of her best yet.

‘Forever After’ is out now via Nettwork Music Group. You can buy and stream here.
