Tina Arena releases new single 'True Faith' and announces covers EP 'Way of the World' will be released in October

Australian icon Tina Arena today releases her new single ‘True Faith’, the first taste of her upcoming covers EP Way of the World, due for release on 16 October.
Originally recorded by New Order, ‘True Faith’ was an electronic-synth top 10 UK and Australian hit in 1987. Arena’s version strips the song back to its fragile heart, transforming it into a stunning, vulnerable ballad with just a whisper of an electronica soundscape supporting Arena’s incomparable vocal. As the song progresses, the electronic swirls and and blips build into almost unbearable tension as Arena’s voice becomes more distressed before coming to a gentle end. At over six minutes long, it is a mesmerising listening experience.
“Making the deliberate choice to focus on the lyric of ‘True Faith’ was musically revelatory for me. It presented a blank musical canvas with endless vulnerability and space for me to explore,” Arena says.
‘True Faith’ will feature on Arena’s new covers EP, Way of the World, released on 16 October. Alongside ‘True Faith’, Arena will reinterpret five other songs: ‘Way of the World’ (Max Q), ‘Enjoy the Silence’ (Depeche Mode), ‘Ordinary World’ (Duran Duran), ‘Torno Bambina’ (Ada Mori) and ‘Cayendo’ (Frank Ocean). With a variety of sonics, including orchestral, piano, analogue synthesisers and electronica, Arena worked with a number of artists including François Tétaz (Gotye, Kimbra and Architecture in Helsinki), Luke Howard, the Budapest Art Orchestra, Peter Knight, James Rushford, Mindy Meng Wang and orchestrator Felix Watson.
The announcement of new music from Arena comes just before the release of a new documentary film Tina Arena: Unravel Me which will premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival on 12 August before being released in cinemas nationwide on 27 August. The film celebrates and explores Arena’s incredible 50 year career, from child TV star through to global pop superstar.
One of Australia’s highest selling artists of all time, Arena has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide. Her 1994 single ‘Chains’ transformed her from a local star into a global success story, hitting the top 10 in the UK and the top 40 in the US. She has been nominated for 25 ARIA Music Awards, winning seven, and in 2015 she was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
One of Australia’s greatest artists, Way of the World is yet another showcase of Arena’s incomparable artistry and creativity, and is shaping up to be a music collection to savour.
