Tate McRae announces debut album 'i used to think i could fly' will be released on May 27

Canada’s Tate McRae is one of the biggest breakthrough artists to appear on the music scene in the past few years. One of the originals in a new breed of artists who have made their mark with brutally honest and vulnerable songs authentically addressing the experiences young women go through, she is quickly proving she has everything it takes to be one of music’s future superstars.

A trained dancer, McRae released her first single ‘One Day’ in 2017 aged just 14. The song went viral leading to a record contract with RCA Records in 2019. In 2020 she went from ‘big on the internet’ to mainstream success when her single ‘You Broke Me First’ became a major international hit, reaching the top 10 in the UK and Australia and the top 20 in the US.

Today she has announced her debut album i used to think i could fly will be released on May 27. The album will feature the previously released singles ‘she’s all i wanna be’, ‘feel like shit’ and ‘chaotic’. ‘she’s all i wanna be’ and ‘chaotic’ have seen McRae team up with Grammy Award winning songwriter and producer Greg Kurstin (Adele, Alessia Cara, Halsey) who she previously worked with on her last EP Too Young to Be Sad.

The album looks set to remain true to the style and ethos we have already seen from McRae’s music to date, with her telling People magazine earlier this year her songs are “genuinely just my diary entries. I think that's just the way that I express myself. When I have a whole bunch of pent-up feelings, or ugly feelings, the number one thing I need to do is write them down."

Tate McRae has a particular genius for creating music that is uniquely her own, yet speaks of universal experiences which allows her music to connect deeply with your soul. Her immense talent while not yet out of her teens is impressive and i used to think i could fly is sure to be of the great debut albums of 2022. One to definitely pre-save right now.

i used to think i could fly will be released on May 27 via RCA Records/Sony Music. You can pre-save now here.
