Melbourne’s Mo•Louie (full name Monique Sesto) releases her new single ‘Body’ on September 7, but today you can listen to it exclusively on Women In Pop.

‘Body’ is a bubbly pop track that mixes electronica, synth and rap and projects an empowering message of body positivity. “‘Body’ is about embracing body positivity and sexuality! It’s a banger that is aimed to make you dance, feel your oats and have fun,” Mo says. “I love this song because it has this energy that really lifts me up, especially when I perform it live. It makes me feel fabulous and a little crazy, in the best way. I hope that it infects people with the same energy (COVID pun not intended).”

Written by Mo with longtime collaborator and friend Stephen Carmichael, Mo also produced and mixed the track alongside Moses Carr. Having a troubled relationship with her body inspired the song and Mo wants us all to challenge the beauty standards society places on us all. “‘Body’ is about challenging those inner demons, being proud and happy to be thick and juicy,” she says. “There are so many different shapes out there. It’s fucked for other people to determine what beauty is. To me confidence is beauty, to someone else vulnerability is beauty, to someone else cheese is beauty. As corny as it sounds, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ALL types of beauty need to be showcased.”

Mo first appeared on the music scene in 2016 with the release of her debut single, the R&B ‘She Said’, followed by her first EP Fire Brick the following year. Last year she released her first mixtape An Odd World and ‘Body’ marks her first new music in almost a year. A joy and a blast to listen to, Mo•Louie is guaranteed to brighten up your day. Before its general release tomorrow, listen to ‘Body’ now below.
