Just ahead of her first ever Australian tour, rising British superstar Maisie Peters today announces her new album The Good Witch will be released on June 16.

Created over a year in London, Suffolk, Stockholm, Bergen and LA, the album is the follow up to her debut You Signed Up For This which hit number 2 on the UK album chart. While You Signed Up For This was a bittersweet, coming of age record The Good Witch, written while on tour throughout 2022, chronicles a period when Peters was experiencing the conflicting experiences of career highs and personal lows.

Working with producers Oscar Görres (Taylor Swift, Troye Sivan), Two Inch Punch (Sam Smith, Jessie Ware), Matias Tellez (girl in red), Brad Ellis (Jorja Smith, Little Mix), Joe Rubel (Ed Sheeran, Tom Grennan) and Elvira Anderfjärd (Tove Lo, Katy Perry), Peters was inspired by the works of Joan Didion, J. M. Barrie as well as Greek mythology and Western movies while writing. The album explore themes of romantic breakups, the preciousness of friendship and true value of self-worth.

“This is my heart and soul, my blood on the page, the collection of stories that I’ve managed to capture in the past year,” Peters says. “A true chronicle of my life in recent history, it is my own twisted version of a breakup album and it all draws upon the same couple of months’ worth of experiences and inspirations. It ducks and weaves between the real and surreal, and centres my own universe, of which I am of course the keeper of the keys and the holder of the cards - the good witch, if you will. It goes from light to dark in the flip of a switch and I hope takes you on a journey whereby the end you feel like you’ve gotten lost in someone else’s planet for a bit.”

The album’s first single, the 1980s tinged electro track ‘Body Better’, was released at the end of January and has already racked up close to 3 million streams on Spotify alone. Peters will kick off her first ever Australian tour today in Byron Bay, which will see her play seven headline shows as well as support Ed Sheeran on his Australian and New Zealand stadium through to mid-March.

Maisie Peters is a remarkable talent and The Good Witch is destined to become one of this year’s greatest pop albums.
