Madison Beer has released her first new single of 2025 with the track ‘yes baby’.
It takes Beer’s sound into a harder, electronic-synth-dance sound, a vibe that she toyed with on last year’s ‘Make You Mine’ and ‘15 Minutes’. Written and produced by Beer with regular collaborator Leroy Clampitt along with British producer Lostboy, who has worked with JADE, Tate McRae and Kylie Minogue, ‘yes baby’ has a pounding electronic beat that never lets up, with Beer’s breathy vocals and the constant repetition of the song title bringing a yearning, needing sexuality to the track.
“‘yes baby’ is really just a fun and flirty song,” Beer says. “After I shot the music video, though, it took on a whole new energy, and just feels like a song you want to blast with your friends”.
That video gives a whole new take on 1980s exercise videos and with its camp brilliance and high energy will surely become one of the most iconic music videos of the 2020s.
Although she is only 26, Beer has been releasing music for 12 years and has steadily become one of pop’s most important artists. Taking full creative control over her artistry, which includes not only writing and producing her music but directing and creating all her visuals, her music has a depth, intelligence and creativity that is rare in an artist so young. This was recognised last year when her second album Silence Between Songs received two nominations at the Grammy Awards.
‘yes baby’ marks the beginning of the next chapter in Beer’s career, and with more music to come it is already looking like it is going to be one of her most exciting and brilliant yet.
