Madison Beer releases new single 'Spinnin'

Madison Beer today releases her new single ‘Spinnin’, the final taste of her second album Silence Between Songs due to be released on September 15.

Following up the electronic pop of ‘Home To Another One’, ‘Spinnin’ embraces a soundscape that is almost diametrically opposed. Cinematic, dramatic and brooding, it starts with a lazy guitar and angelic vocals before moving into a mix of pop, soul, country and jazz, building in intensity with Beer giving full power to her remarkable vocals. Lyrically it tells a claustrophobic, delirious story of struggling to cope with life and pondering where to go next ‘I’d rather live in my dreams / I lie here wondering / Did the world stop spinning or did I?’

Also out today is the music video for ‘Spinnin’ directed by Beer and Aerin Moreno, with a dreamlike feel as Beer leaves her house to realise the whole world seems to have stopped.

“This song is a reflection of a time when everything seemed to stand still,” Beer says. “I felt like every day was a cycle and I was stuck in such an anxious place, yet I could finally explore the thoughts and emotions in my head. I dreamed of a video that was cinematic and visually striking that brought those emotions to life, and I’m so proud of what we created."

‘Spinnin’ is the fifth single to be released from Beer’s second album Silence Between Songs. Entirely co-written and co-produced by Beer, the album pays homage to some of her favourite artists including Lana Del Rey, The Beatles, The Beach Boys and Tame Impala. An album of growth, reflection and introspection, her journey over the past few years has taught her the moments of growth come in the times of silence and solitude, and not the major life events. “I kind of convinced myself that the moments where I was making music, and I was on tour and I was my busiest was actually when I was growing,” she told Billboard. "But as I’ve gotten a little older, I’ve realized that it’s actually been the moments that I’ve been able to tune out the noise and I’ve been able to be alone and really reflect that I’ve actually grown the most.”

Beer is an extremely special artist with an incredible voice and an innate power to create music that connects directly with you. It’s warm, emotive and moving and will always leave its mark on you. Silence Between Songs is sure to become one of your favourite albums of 2023.
