British-Australian artist KYE today returns with her new single ‘Now Come On Now’, her first new music since the release of her ARIA Award nominated and critically acclaimed EP Ribena.

A continuation of her Ribena era, ‘Now Come On Now’ was born at the same time as the EP and was inspired by an iconic line from American broadcaster Wendy Williams, which on the single is interpreted by Melbourne drag queen Hollywould Star.

‘Now Come On Now’ follows a similar, fabulous sonic path as KYE presented on the Ribena EP. A delicious melding of electronic pop, R&B and house, it features a dramatic build up to the chorus, before sliding into a sublime trancey, buzzy middle section and closer. Lyrically, KYE sings of owning her worth: “I’m born with it, I am that bitch.”

“I’m not usually the last one to leave the party but I’m glued to the dance floor,” KYE says. “I wanted one last splash of Ribena to close off this chapter of music-making. So, wipe the sweat off your brow and stay for one more dance. I don’t know what else you want me to say - I’ve said it all. Serve, slay, sizzle etc.”

To celebrate the release of the new single, KYE has announced she will be embarking on the Now Come On Now’ tour, starting on February 23 at Victoria’s Gaytimes Festival, followed by show at the Imperial Hotel in Sydney on March 23 and Rubix Warehouse in Melbourne on April 6. Tickets are on sale now here.

After working for years as a touring backing vocalist for major names such as Sampa The Great, Jessica Mauboy and Ruel, KYE released her debut solo music in 2019 and has since been steadily gaining traction as one of Australia’s brightest and most promising young artists. In 2022 her profile shot up after performing as part of the Olivia Newton-John tribute at the ARIA Awards alongside Tones And I, Natalie Imbruglia and Peking Duk, and last year she received her first ARIA Award nomination for Best Soul/R&B Release.

KYE’s music is always a delight to indulge in. Fizzing with joy, sass and empowerment, she combines pop, R&B, soul and throwbacks to early 2000s early garage to create music that is instantly familiar but also unique enough to get really excited about. ‘Now Come On Now’ may be closing KYE’s Ribena era, but we can’t wait to see what the next chapter of her music brings.

‘Now Come On Now’ is out now via Sony Music. You can listen here.
