KYE releases addictive new single 'Ribena'

Zimbabwean born, London raised and now Naarm/Melbourne based KYE is one of Australia’s most exciting new talents. First releasing music in 2019, last year was one of her biggest yet with two singles accumulating close to 1 million streams on Spotify alone, a slot supporting the iconic TLC and also featuring on the Olivia Newton-John tribute at the 2022 ARIA Awards.

Today she returns with her new single ‘Ribena’ an addictively smooth track that mixes pop, R&B and garage, drawing inspiration from the sounds of the UK music scene in the early 2000s. A song that hooks straight into your brain and is a endorphin rush from beginning to end, it continues KYE’s embracing of a more upbeat, pop-leaning sound that started with 2022’s ‘Clique’.

“I have a long-time love affair with Ribena, so on a Saturday morning in a 7-11, when my crush and I reached into the fridge for that resplendent blackcurrant drink at the same time, I instantly fell in love,” KYE says. “This song is about that gooey feeling in the pit of your stomach when you first fall for someone. That sweet, scintillating, sugar high.”

KYE is an artist that seems to get more impressive with every new release as she develops and explores new sounds, With just a handful of tracks to her name so far, she is a remarkably assured artist who is only going to get bigger and better with the potential to be a real international breakout star. ‘Ribena’ is a hell of a way to kick of 2023 for KYE and we can’t wait to see what the rest of year brings for her.

‘Ribena’ is out now via Sony Music Australia. You can buy and stream here.

To keep up with all things KYE you can follow her on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
