Kita Alexander releases new single 'Rage' and announces album of the same name will be released in June

Australia’s Kita Alexander today releases her new single ‘RAGE’ and announces her second album of the same name will be released on June 26.
Written by Alexander with fellow artists Matt Corby, Ben Abraham and Shungudzo Kuyimba, and produced by Chris Collins, ‘Rage’ is a lush, breezy, guitar based pop song with Alexander questioning a relationship: ‘somethings not sitting right.’
The deceptively gentle vocal gives way to Alexander giving into her rage in the middle 8, with a rasp in her voice as she becomes louder, with a thumping drum adding tension to the section.
"This song was the most healing song off the whole record,” Alexander says. “When I got to recording the middle 8, I was scream-singing. I realised that it was the most powerful connection to my rage that I’ve ever had. It wasn’t contained or controlled, it was a pure feeling. This song explores the journey that I’ve had with rage, from it being a quiet sensation of a warning to watching it grow into a beast that needs acknowledgement and demands change.”
The album RAGE, out on June 26, explores Alexander’s personal journey with the eponymous emotion. “Rage has been the catalyst of positive change in my life over the last couple of years. The album is about an emotion I’ve always had but never understood. It’s me looking at it and embracing it as a new friend and realising that I don’t have to shut it down or avoid looking at it,” Alexander says. “An emotion that is usually seen as ugly or wrong has helped me have the confidence to create necessary change in my life that I was otherwise scared of doing. Rage has helped me find what truly matters to me and to change my life in ways that work for me.”
RAGE is the follow up to Alexander’s debut album, 2023’s Young In Love which peaked at number 3 on the Australian Album Charts. A sold out national tour followed, and a collection of ARIA Music Award nominations in 2024: the Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Award, as well as three nods for her co-write with FISHER ‘Atmosphere’
