The winners of the 2026 APRA Music Awards have been announced in Sydney, with Emily Wurramara, Sia and Amyl & The Sniffers among the recipients of awards.

The APRA Awards were established in 1982 and celebrate excellence in contemporary music, honouring songwriters and publishers who have achieved artistic excellence and outstanding success in their fields. Awards are decided across three distinct selection processes: Board Selected, Most Performed (based on statistical analysis) and Peer Voted.

The big winners of the night were Amyl and The Sniffers, fronted by Amy Taylor, who won the Peer-Voted APRA Song of the Year and Most Performed Rock Work for their single ‘Jerkin’’, along with the acclaimed Songwriter of the Year award.

Pop-folk artist Emily Wurramara took home the Emerging Songwriter of the Year award, while Sia became APRA’s most awarded writer member of all time with her win for Most Performed Australian Work Overseas for ‘Unstoppable’, taking her total lifetime awards to 14.

Another dominant APRA winner, Sarah Aarons, brought her total career awards to six when she won this year’s International Recognition Award. One of not just Australia’s but the world’s most successful songwriters, Aarons has been behind major hits by Gracie Abrams, ROSÉ, BTS, Flume and Tame Impala.

Alongside established winners, this year’s ceremony saw a number of female artists win their first ever APRA Award. Rising R&B star PANIA won the Most Performed R&B/Soul Work for her single ‘Pity Party’, and Rachael Fahim claimed the Most Performed Country Work for ‘Who You Are’.

“The 2026 APRA Music Awards were a fitting way to celebrate not only 100 years of APRA, but today’s biggest and brightest stars,” Dean Ormiston, CEO of APRA AMCOS, says. “It’s a privilege to look back at 100 years of service to our members and the incredible breadth and diversity of Australian talent. As a nation we derive so much, socially, culturally and economically, from our music creators, it’s imperative that we recognise and celebrate that contribution.”
