Dami Im announces new EP 'In Between' and releases title track
Australian pop legend Dami Im has released her new single ‘In Between’ and announces her new EP, also called In Between, will be released on July 7.
As a taster of the EP, the title track which features Jude York, is available now. The song is a gentle, semi-acoustic track where Im’s majestic vocals shine. It explores the concept of never fully fitting in anywhere in life, and how our identities change throughout the years, with the song coming into being after Im walked through a cemetery “Funny it ends just like it all starts / Hospital wings and graveyards / Babies get born and people leave / But I struggle with the in between,” she sings.
Featuring seven tracks, including Im’s recent single ‘Collide’, the In Between EP sees Im work with a number of high profile collaborators including Amy and George Sheppard, Andy Mak as well as Jude York. Created when Im was going through intense change in her personal life, it is a reflection of both her own journey and how as an artist she is thriving with the inspiration this new chapter in her life is giving her.
“In Between is a collection of songs I made amidst the rocky shift into motherhood,” she says. “The seven tracks chronologically document the seven stages of emotional states, exploring themes of identity, societal expectations, love, and friendship, before ultimately realising that life exists within the liminal space of 'In Between'”
Im has also announces she will be embarking on an east coast tour to celebrate the release of In Between. Kicking off in Brisbane on July 7, she will also perform in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra before wrapping up on the Central Coast on July 15.
Dami Im never disappoints and creates music that is beautifully warm and almost intangibly melds itself to you, never to let go. Her powerful voice is one of Australian music’s greatest assets, and this upcoming EP, like all new music from her, will be something to treasure.
