Charlie Collins returns with new single 'F*ck It'

Today Charlie Collins returns with her new single ‘Fuck It’, her first new release since 2019 and her first on new label Island Records Australia.

The song is a driving guitar pop track with melancholic melodies and an emotive vocal performance from Collins. Produced by Scott Horscroft with Joji Malani (Gang Of Youths), Collins wrote the song when she was going through a relationship breakup that became a topic of hurtful gossip within the circles she moved in. “At the time, when I was going through this separation, I needed a friend more than a critic,” she says. “This song is an acknowledgment of blame but also recognising that you don’t need that judgement.”

It is a raw, emotional and honest twist on the breakup songs we are used to hearing with Collins opening up and accepting responsibility for the end of the relationship as opposed to being the sole wronged party. “So I’ll take all the blame and wear it on my back / And walk with the shame and you can watch me crack / Fuck it it’s my fault,” she sings.

Collins has been performing since she was a teenager, forming a band with her siblings when she was just 12. They released their debut album through EMI Music in 2008, before Collins joined Sydney band Tigertown in 2011. The band released six EPs, and in 2018 Collins launched her solo career with the album Snowpine. Indiepop tinged with country and folk, it earned Collins an ARIA Award nomination in 2019 for Best Country Album.

Now signed to Island Records Australia, Collins launches this new era of her career in style and on the strength of ‘Fuck It’ we can expect more exciting things to come from her this year.

‘Fuck It’ is out now via Island Records Australia/UMA. You can download and stream here.
