Arlo Parks returns with new single '2SIDED' with third album 'Ambiguous Desire' arriving 3 April

British artist Arlo Parks has returned with the single ‘2SIDED’, her first new music since the release of her critically acclaimed second album My Soft Machine in 2023.

Written with Baird and Rob Bisel, and produced by Baird and Bisel, ‘2SIDED’ sees Parks progress the subtle trip hop of My Soft Machine into synth driven dancefloor sounds - blurry, skittish and beaty mixed with melancholia. Lyrically Parks sings of falling for someone on a night out: ‘You know how I feel / Tell me it's two-sided.’

“At its core ‘2SIDED’ is about yearning and tension,” Parks says. “It’s about being struck by a bolt of desire and building up the courage to put language to that feeling, to make it real.”

‘2SIDED’ is the first release from Parks’s third album Ambiguous Desire which will be released on 3 April. The 12 track album was inspired by nightlife where Parks felt she could be anyone she wanted to, and follows the soundscape of ‘2SIDED’ with modular synths and samplers a key component of the production.

“I danced more than ever as I made this record, I made more friends than ever too, found myself in the weird underbelly of New York juke nights, unleashed, laughed and laughed and laughed,” Parks says of Ambiguous Desire. “This record has desire at its centre. Desire is a life force, it’s a wanting, a yearning, a momentum – we are all alive because there is something or someone we want – desire is an engine. But it is also mysterious, tangled, random, enlightening and HUMAN.”

Parks first released music in 2018, with her debut album following in 2021. A critical and commercial success, it peaked at number 3 on the UK Albums chart and number 18 in Australia. A slew of major award nominations and wins followed, most noticeably three nominations and one win at the 2021 Brit Awards and two nominations at the 2022 Grammy Awards.

With the release of Ambiguous Desire and a whole new era of creativity, 2026 is shaping up to be another landmark year for Parks.
