Danish group Aqua, who become pop music icons in the 1990s, today announce they will be touring Australia in March for the first time since 2018.

Formed in 1989 and fronted by Lene Nystrøm, Aqua shot to global fame in 1997 with their third single, the legendary ‘Barbie Girl’. It hit number one in Australia and the UK and also cracked the top 10 in the USA. More global hits followed, including ‘Doctor Jones’, ‘Lollipop (Candyman)’ ‘Turn Back Time’ and ‘Cartoon Heroes’. After breaking up in 2001, they reformed in 2008, and again in 2016, and have continued to tour the globe since.

In 2023, they achieved a musical renaissance after they featured on the Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice hit ‘Barbie World’ which sampled ‘Barbie Girl’ and featured in the hit film Barbie. The song hit the top 10 in Australia, the UK and US and received two Grammy nominations.

Their headline Australian tour will kick off in Brisbane on 21 March, followed by performances in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide before the tour wraps up in Perth on 28 March.

Joining Aqua on the tour will be Belgian-Dutch electronic duo 2 Unlimited, famous for ‘Get Ready For This’ and ‘No Limit’, and English bands East 17, Big Brovaz, Booty Luv, Phats & Small and Urban Cookie Collective. With some of the finest artists of the era, it is set to be the ultimate celebration of the 1990s music scene.
