Rising R&B-pop artist Lara D today releases her first new music of 2022, ‘Bad Case Of Loving You’. Leaning more into pop than her previous releases, the song is powerful and impactful, expertly constructed with beautiful melodies, a driving beat and a remarkable vocal performance from Lara. It is an incredibly assured song from a relatively new act and can stand side-by-side with music released by the very best international superstars.

“‘Bad Case Of Loving You’ is about falling into the trap of toxic love and the mixed emotions that come with discovering if someone is genuine, or if it’s all part of a game,” Lara says. “Sometimes we fall for someone that we shouldn’t because they don’t treat you right or they fall through on their promises. It’s not a heartbreak song, it’s more about warranted disappointment in someone for turning out exactly like you thought they would.”

The song was co-written by Lara with acclaimed production team DNA Songs, who also produced the track. “I was playing with vocal ideas and I come up with a cool rhythm vocally in the chorus, everyone reacted and said "that's it", it became a key hook - it was funny as I kinda wrote it without thinking!” Lara says of how the song came together.

Also released today is the beautiful music video for ‘Bad Case Of Loving You’, which was filmed at Caves Beach and an arcade in NSW. Lara styled and co-directed the video which remarkably had to be delayed when a whale beached itself on Caves Beach, with Lara and the crew helping it get back to open waters.

With Moroccan-Lebanese heritage, Lara’s music reflects her own personal multi-cultural background and explores unique, intriguing sonic landscapes that never conforms to traditional views of genre. “Embrace your culture, embrace who you are, embrace what you do,” she says. “Sometimes people find it embarrassing, but I find it cool. I’m the type of person who loves [different] cultures, traditions, I find it amazing.”

Still not yet 20, she displays remarkable talent for someone so young and has the potential to be one of Australia’s next global breakout stars. Get ahead of the rush and add Lara D to your playlist now.

‘Bad Case Of Loving You’ is out now via Sony Music Australia. You can download and stream here.
