iyah may releases new single 'MF ILY'

Brisbane based iyah may today releases her new single ‘MF ILY’. The track is an irresistible R&B-pop track that speaks of the deep love for our friends and the strength they give us in hard times and is the perfect soundtrack for the upcoming carefree summer days and nights. “Those motherfuckers that drive you insane but you love to death anyway,” may says of the inspiration behind the track. '“‘Motherfucker I Love You’ is a conversation about the tumultuous times in life and the people that give you early frown lines that you can’t live without”.

may’s musical and personal journey over the last couple of years has been defined by the tumultuous times we are all living through. Initially training as a doctor, she walked away from her medical career and moved to New York to pursue music, only to find herself back working in hospitals as the pandemic worsened. She didn’t give up on music though, and earlier this year released the single ‘XO Girl’ featuring Saint Lane. Now returning with ‘MF ILY’ this brightest of new talents is primed to bring a bit of joy back into our life as the world slowly comes back to life again. Watch and listen below, and you can catch iyah may performing at The Grass is Greener festival in Cairns on October 23.

‘MF ILY’ is out now via Island Records. You can buy and stream here.
