INTERVIEW: Princess Superstar returns with new single 'YUM-ME': "It’s the best music I have made in my 30 years of doing music."
Published: 17 February 2026
Princess Superstar (real name Concetta Kirschner) became a sensation in the early 2000s with her hit singles ‘Bad Babysitter’ and ‘Perfect (Exceeder)’, with the latter recently going viral after it featured in the movie Saltburn.
She is now in the midst of what she calls her ‘comeback era’, and recently dropped the single ‘YUM-ME’, which features rapper Eloise Keeble. Written with Keeble and Two Planets, ‘YUM-ME’ opens with a cheeky ‘guess who’s back?’ and is classic Princess Superstar - a thumping electro-techno beat teamed with a brash, sassy rap. Princess Superstar and Keeble rap about empowerment and self-love, with the lyric ‘get hot like me’ quickly becoming an ear worm.
“I am beyond excited to drop my new single ‘YUM-ME’ which kinda feels like ‘Perfect (Exceeder)’ for this wild 2026 ‘comeback’ era of mine,” Princess Superstar says. “It is part of an album release which will be in May - my first album in 13 years! Feels like a delicious dream."
‘YUM-ME’ follows on from the singles ‘PRAY’, ‘Harrison Ford’ and ‘Goddess’, and all four tracks showcase just how intoxicating her upcoming album will be, which will see Princess Superstar team up with some of music biggest writers and producers including Laidback Luke (Calvin Harris, Avicii), Oscar Scheller (PinkPantheress, Ashnikko) and Whethan (Charli XCX, Dua Lipa).
An artist that mixes hardcore electronic beats with attitude and wry humour, Princess Superstar is an artist that is pure joy to listen to. We recently caught up with her to chat all about ‘YUM-ME’ and her upcoming new music.
Hi Princess Superstar! Thanks so much for chatting to us. How is life with you right now?
Life is freaking amazing right now! And hard. Life is always both
You have just dropped your new single ‘YUM-ME’, which is an absolute banger of a track, we love it! Tell us a little bit more about the inspiration behind this song
I just wanted to make a ‘Perfect’ song for the kids today, that channeled that cunty thing from Perfect for 2026.
‘YUM-ME’ features Eloise Keeble, how did this collaboration come about?
I just thought she was so awesome and such a great songwriter so it was a natural fit.
You wrote and produced the track with Keeble and Two Planets - what was the production process like?
I knew the song was gonna be amazing because of the way we were all texting in the group chat, it felt like a bunch of teenagers! First we started on Zoom because we are in all parts of the world, and then we came together in person in London to do the final recording. It was so much fun. We laughed a lot. Love those guys! And you can hear that in the music too.
‘YUM-ME’ will be part of a album you will be releasing in May - your first album in 13 years! What can you tell us about the album?
I can tell you it’s the best music I have made in my 30 years of doing music. And I can tell you that I am only halfway done actually because only the best of the best can go on this album. I have done like 40 songs but only 6 are good enough so far! I will have some really fun collaborators on the album, from both my old electro era and the new kids of this era. It is going to be powerful because of the journey I have been on in the last decade. I can’t wait.
You have such a unique sound that blurs the line between multiple genres. Who were the artists you loved when you were young that inspired your own sound?
I loved so many eclectic artists growing up everything from Pink Floyd to Blondie to New Order and then later on when I found hip hop I was obsessed with Slick Rick, Biggie, Lil Kim, Tribe called Quest.
You have worked with a number of incredible artists, including Lana Del Rey, Moby and the Prodigy. What’s been the biggest “pinch-me” moment of your career?
Actually it was working with Grandmaster Flash, I recorded a verse on his album and recorded in his basement studio in his house in New York. I was like this is the grandfather of hip hop what am I doing here? Ha ha!
You have been releasing music since 1999, how do you think the music industry has changed, particularly when it comes to the treatment and representation of women - are we in a better place or are we just treading water?
Oh definitely in a better place. When I started rapping there were barely any female MCs in hip hop and then later when I became a DJ in the 2000s there were barely any female DJ’s. That’s all changed now. The girls are killing it!
‘YUM-ME’ is out now and you have an album coming in May, what else does 2026 have in store for you?
I am doing a US tour opening for the Lords of Acid in Spring and then just doing a lot of shows all over the place- both live and Djing. I am super excited because I love performing the most. And then just being with my family, my daughter and my husband.
