Anja Nissen to release first EP

Anja Nissen to release first EP

Anja Nissen will release a new EP, ‘Where I Am’, on Friday 5th May and it includes the title track that she will be performing at Eurovision 2017 where Anja is representing Denmark.  Anja has been living overseas writing and recording the six track EP that was produced by Michael Paynter and Michael Delorenzis (MSquared Productions).

The EP marks the first release of songs Anja has co-written. The song ‘Where I Am’ is universal with a message she hopes makes everyone feel included. “The song is about letting go, particularly in relationships; breaking down the emotional walls and letting you give love and receive love. Haven’t we all been in that situation where we’ve felt lost and we’ve felt we don’t know who we are and that no one is going to accept us for who we are? But at the end of the day we make a decision to not care and just to let go, and that’s what the song is about,” says Anja.

This is the first time Nissen has released music of her own and for a girl who has been writing music since she was nine years old, it’s a side of her she’s happy the world is getting to see.  “I’m always myself on stage but sometimes you can only do that through your own music. I’m a songwriter and I feel like it’s my life, and what puts blood in my veins is to share my stories.”

Nissen, who has sung for Princess Mary, toured with Ollie Murs and has shared studio space with Sean Kingston and Jay Z, won The Voice in 2014 with Black Eyed Peas member will.i.am as her mentor. With a star-studded posse of rappers and producers in a Los Angeles studio she has created fresh sounds of her own. She enjoyed a national sync with Channel 9 hit TV drama Love Child for the single ‘Anyone Who HadA Heart’, which reached #11 on the iTunes chart.
