PREMIERE: Little Green releases video for 'Mothers Daughter' single

Sydney based artist Little Green has been releasing her soul-inflected indie pop music since 2019 and earlier this year achieved breakthrough success when her collaboration with santpoort ‘feather light’ achieved over 4 million global streams.

Last week she released her new single ‘Mothers Daughter’, an beguiling track which mixes blues, soul and jazz and explores the sometimes troubled, but always deep, connection between mother and daughter: “I won’t blame her / And I don’t hate her / For the pain that she gave to me.”

“I wrote this song in character… absorbing all the mother daughter relationships around me, I realised the generational trauma experienced by women,” Little Green says.. “This story is about the complex, yet unbreakable bond between a mother and daughter, and the healing power of forgiveness.”

Today, Women In Pop premieres the music video for ‘Mothers Daughter’ ahead of its general release this week. Created with Quiet Humans, the video is simple, yet powerful with Little Green’s stage presence keeping you watching to the very end. “Working with Quiet Humans on this music video was a lot of fun,” she says of the shoot. “We didn’t have much of a plan. I just knew I wanted red paint, a mirror and flowers. Symbolising womanhood, reflections, coming of age, and the rebirth of trauma, like seeds that fall from a flower.”
