PREMIERE: Kim Yang releases new single 'All Good When I'm With You'

Taiwan born, Canberra based artist Kim Yang is known for creating indie-folk music full of heart and emotion. This week she releases her new single ‘All Good When I'm With You’ and today you can listen to it exclusively on Women In Pop.

Written by Yang and produced by Louis Montgomery (SAFIA, Peking Duk), ‘All Good When I’m With You’ is a gorgeous, gentle folk-pop song with a soothing picked ukulele refrain and an emotive vocal from Yang. The multi-layered lyrics reflect what Yang sees as her purpose as a songwriter - to bring both comfort and joy to other people, as well as to herself. Yang highlights how important music can be in healing, not just for the listener but also the artists that create the songs: ‘You can tell me your worries / Then we will write them into a song,’ she sings.

“This song talks about my purpose as a songwriter: to make comfort for troubled soul and sharing the joy while making music with people, whether it is writing a song, or singing a song together,” Yang says.

An acclaimed voice within the Australian folk music community, over the past few years Yang has been nominated for MusicACT's Artist of the Year (2022) and Best Live Voice at the National Live Music Awards (2023). She has also supported major artists live including Kate Ceberano, Katie Noonan, Fanny Lumsden Josh Pyke, Ben Lee and George.

Yang is an artist who creates deceptively simple music that has instant appeal, but will reveal deeper meanings and a more intriguing soundscape the more you listen. A masterful lyricist and singer, ‘All Good When I’m With You’ showcases Yang at her very best and marks a welcome return more than a year after her last release. Officially released on Wednesday 29 October, you can listen to it now exclusively on Women In Pop.
