PODCAST: Blusher on the release of their second EP 'Racer'

Published: 31 July 2025

Australian pop trio Blusher - Jade, Lauren and Miranda - today release their second EP Racer.

A glorious collection of addictive electronic-synth-dance music, Racer showcases Blusher’s brilliance at creating the kind of feelgood, joyous music every pop fan dreams about, while also teaming it with lyrics that veer away from the traditional stories of love and heartbreak. Blusher represent - and celebrate - both girlhood and womanhood in their music and while love certainly plays a part in their lyrics, their focus is on friendship, music and living life to the fullest.

Last Man Standing’ is a prime example of what they do so well, a banging synthpop track with divine melodies that expresses solidarity with your friends and being together for the perfect night out: ‘I'll be your number one…Just keep dancing here with me / We don't ever have to leave.’

Marathon’, with a more edgier, thicker beat explores a similar topic with a promise to always be there for each other no matter what happens. 'Save your tears for the dancefloor / I’ll be there to walk you home.’

Don’t Look At Me Like That’ moves the story into romantic territory, but from the angle of realising a friendship has moved into a different stage - one that is not necessarily welcomed by both parties. ‘I know where this leads / Don’t make it romantic / Don’t look at me like you’re in love.’

Whateverwhatever’ is a slice of perfect electronic dance and encourages everyone to let all the daily pressures go and just live life and have fun ‘Maybe it’s the end of the world but whatever.’.

The EP ends with the gorgeous ‘Running To You’ which sees Blusher move into ballad territory - but still with stylish synth and electronic beats that build throughout the song and burst into a house-trance sound, with minimal vocals, in the last third of the track. The most openly romantic song on the EP - ‘So I turn to your arms because they’re open wide’ - it is the perfect track to end the EP, a sonic outlier that is different enough to be exciting, yet retaining enough of the Blusher sound to be make you feel warm and comfortable.

To celebrate the release of the EP, Blusher will be launching a headline tour in September with shows across the UK, Europe and the US, before bringing the show to Australia in November.

Blusher are truly one of Australia’s most exciting young bands and Racer is further proof, if any was needed, of just how good they are. They recently dropped by the Women In Pop podcast and chatted to Jett Tattersall about the creation of the EP, their music career and their love of pop music. You can listen now on our website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify Podcasts and all podcast platforms.
