Australian singer-songwriter Nicole Millar returns today with the single ‘Favours’, her first new music since last year’s debut album Excuse Me.

An addictive slice of R&B-synth blend with elements of dancehall which switches from a jittery, twisted beat to a smooth as silk groove all presided over by Millar’s beguiling vocals, the track is deeply personal and addresses a dark period in Millar’s life, singing “you must be living in euphoria / If you think I will cry for you”. “I had a bit of a rough year with a lot of changes,” she says. “‘Favours’ is a song about how I’ve got no praise, or money left for this person.” Working with long term collaborators Muki and Kilter, Miller says she is embracing a new sound in this new period of her life. “I’ve grown up, and I knew that my music needed to do that too. I’ve been calling my music smooth, dark chocolate with hints of mint!”

‘Favours’ is the first release in a series of new material from Millar which sees her more empowered then ever. “Don’t let someone walk all over you and manipulate you,” she says. “Do exactly what your gut says, and own it.”

‘Favours’ is out now. You can download on iTunes and stream on Spotify, Apple Music and all other platforms.
