Melanie C returns with empowering new single 'Who I Am'

Melanie C has released with her first new music of 2020, the brilliant ‘Who I Am’. The single follows up her collaboration with Sink The Pink, ‘High Heels’, late last year and is her first solo single since 2017. An anthemic, electro dance banger the song explores Melanie’s path to self-acceptance after half-a-lifetime in the full glare of the public gaze. “To avoid any drama I would shut my mouth / I was lost in the ruins of who I thought I should be,” she sings before celebrating “when I look in the mirror / I finally like what I see”. “‘Who I Am' is a very personal and reflective song," says Melanie. "It’s about how I've changed and developed through my life. The more courage I’ve found, the more I have been able to express myself and grow into the woman I now am."

The song is accompanied by a music video which sees Melanie as an anonymous observer surrounded by previous versions of herself, including life size statues, in a Melanie C art gallery. Watch below.

‘Who I Am’ is the first single in a whole new era of Melanie C and the indications are it is going to be one of her best yet.

‘Who I Am’ is out now. You can download on iTunes or stream on Apple Music and Spotify.
