Fresh from her standout performance ushering in 2026 at the iconic Sydney New Year’s Eve Party, Melanie C (Melanie Chisholm) today releases her new single ‘What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

Written and produced in Sweden with Klas Åhlund and Nea, ‘What Could Possibly Go Wrong?’ is a delicious slab of synthpop with multiple melody lines and tempo changes that keep you hooked until the end. A celebration of seizing the moment and being brave, it sees Chisholm moving forward with no regrets. ‘Cause when I make up my mind / There’s no stop and rewind…what could possibly go wrong? I’m sick of perfect anyway.’

“‘Written and recorded in Stockholm with the brilliant Klas Åhlund and Nea gives this track that distinctive Swedish sound,” Chisholm says. “We had a lot of fun working on this song and discussing the light and shade of music and life. It's a tongue in cheek look on taking risks and trusting yourself to take that leap anyway. I think a lot of people will relate!”

The single is the second single from Chisholm’s upcoming ninth studio album Sweat after the title track was released last October. The 13 tracks see her return to the club sounds she grew up with as a 18 year old dancing through the nightclubs of the Costa Brava. An album of resilience and joy, it brings together every aspect of Chisholm’s life from that clubbing teenager through to pop icon, DJ and athlete.

“I’ve done a lot of soul-searching. Now I just want to have some fun and get people dancing again,” Chisholm says. “There are so many horrific things going on in the world, when you make pop and dance music, it can seem almost churlish. But music is what gets me through tough moments. I’m really happy I am bringing out a joyful record at a very dark time.”

As part of the Sweat era, Chisholm will perform a headline show at the O2 Academy Brixton on October 23, 2026, capping off what is shaping up to be a remarkable year for this enduring pop music legend.

‘What Could Possibly Go Wrong?’ is out now via Virgin Music Group. You can download and stream here.
