Madonna announces long awaited 'Veronica Electronica' remix EP will be released on 25 July

Madonna has today announced the long awaited remix EP Veronica Electronica will be released in 25 July, featuring rare and unreleased tracks from her 1998 masterpiece Ray of Light.

The eight track EP will feature rare remixes and one unreleased demo from the Ray of Light sessions, and was first envisioned by Madonna as a remix album in 1998. The overwhelming success of the Ray of Light album sidelined the project, and over 25 years later the project finally sees the light of day.

The EP features newly edited versions of club remixes by Peter Rauhofer, William Orbit, Sasha, BT, and Victor Calderone, alongside a never before released demo version of the song ‘Gone Gone Gone’. Written and produced by Madonna and Rick Nowels it was originally recorded for the Ray of Light album, before the album took a different direction and the song was dropped from the tracklist.

The EP, which is available to pre-order and pre-save now, will be released on silver vinyl and on all digital platforms, with the vinyl copy coming with an exclusive silver mylar lithograph. One of the EP tracks ‘Skin (The Collaboration Remix Edit)’ is available to stream today as a first taste of the collection.

When It was first released in 1998. Ray of Light was Madonna’s first studio album of original material in four years and came at a pivotal moment in her life, after turning 40 and becoming a mother.

“Making my Ray of Light album was a seminal moment in my life as an artist,” she said on Instagram. “I was going through a huge metamorphosis. I had just given birth to my daughter Lola, I had found my spiritual path and I was ready to shed a new skin and take a road less travelled by. I ventured into electronic music with William Orbit and I created an alter ego, taking one of my middle names - and Veronica Electronica was born. Meet my other half.”

Ray of Light went on to sell over 16 million copies worldwide and won four Grammy Awards. Universally critically acclaimed, it is regarded by many as Madonna’s greatest ever work, and produced a number of timeless hit singles including ‘Frozen’, ‘Ray of Light’ and ‘Nothing Really Matters’. With the release of Veronica Electronica, the legacy of this iconic album continues.
