Luwten releases new single 'Don't Be A Stranger'

Dutch artist Luwten today releases her new single ‘Don’t Be A Stranger’ from her soon to be released EP Door. The song follows up from last month’s double single release ‘Control’/’Airport’, which saw Luwten receive support from radio and streaming platforms in her home country and also the UK’s prestigious BBC Radio 1. While ‘Control’ and ‘Airport’ leant into electronica, with ‘Don’t Be A Stranger’ Luwten retains a bedrock of electronica but overlays it with R&B and blues melodies. “This song was born from an experiment with my grandmother’s old tape recorder,” Luwten reveals. “There was some awful yodel music on the cassette but when I rewound it and pressed play there was a two second recording of a male choir. I sampled that small part and that became the “ahay” you hear in the theme and chorus. The drums were built from other sounds the cassette recorder made. It turned out to be a strongly R&B influenced song about being on the move but not wanting the connections you make in these fleeting situations to be a fleeting thing. I think it sounds just like the setting of the song: some smokey bar in a country where it’s still warm outside in the middle of the night.”

Luwten is an artist who creates music with soul, feeling and immediately connects with you. With her reputation continuing to grow, where Luwten goes with her music will be a highlight of the second half of 2020.

‘Don’t Be A Stranger’ is out now via Glassnote Records. You can download on iTunes and stream on Apple Music and Spotify now.
