Fluir releases debut EP 'Just Us'

Sydney based electronic singer, producer and DJ Fluir today releases her debut EP Just Us. A delicious collection of four electropop tracks overflowing with addictive melodies and dreamy soundscapes, the theme of the EP is the complex and often dark side to the creative process.

“First and foremost, I wanted the EP to shine a light on the highs and lows of creativity,” Fluir says of the EP’s creation. “At the time of writing the EP, I wasn't yet where I wanted to be with my music in terms of 'success'. When I looked more closely at what I defined as 'successful' however, I realised that it’s an ever-moving target governed by ego, shifting with every key milestone reached. I felt like I was driving myself mad and losing sight of why I started writing music in the first place. It wasn't until I wrote the title track 'Just Us' - the most vulnerable song I've ever written - that I felt my perception had been recalibrated and I'd found my love for music once more.”

Second track ‘Same Flame’ is similarly vulnerable as Fluir reflects on a lost friendship. “Do you think about it now and then / Think about when we were friends… I really hope you’re doing fine / Think about it all the time / I’m jaded,” she sings. “The lyrics came together really quickly, I don't recall consciously writing them, it's like they fell out onto the paper in front of me,” Fluir says of the song. “It was only once I'd finished that I realised what the song was about, a reflection on past friendships/relationships that irreversibly become a part of you.”

Third track ‘Another World’ has a moody, darker feel, with a repeated cycle of lyrics set against a more trancey soundscape fully transporting you to a late night club state of mind. The EP finishes on a high note with the joyous ‘Make Me Feel’, an ode to living life to the full, or as Fluir says “wasting away your weekends and being genuinely happy”. “Dance the way we feel / Dance until the morning’s here / Tell me how it feels / Tell me that the weekend’s near.”

Fluir has been making waves since her breakout hit ‘I’ve Gotta Have You’ in 2016 and this debut EP is further proof of her talent to create perfectly crafted electronic pop that is full of heart and soul while remaining completely carefree, uplifting and danceable.
