One of Australia’s most impressive young artists CXLOE has released her first new music of 2021 in the form of single ‘Cry & Drive’.

The emotional track, set to a gentle and emotive electro pop beat, details a turbulent time in CXLOE’s life when she lost her grandmother. “I wrote 'Cry & Drive' late last year, a couple days after my grandma passed away,” she says. “I found myself crying and driving on the way home from the hospital, to the point where it was dangerous. I was on the phone to my partner and he told me to pull over and not cry and drive.”

She says the global upheaval that was 2020, and the way it impacted her life, also contributed to the creation of the song. “I found 2020 very displacing,” CXLOE explains. “I didn’t, and still don’t know where I belong in the world and I often find myself in my car driving to feel like I’m going somewhere. I spent a lot of time with my grandma in the months before she passed away and told her how I was feeling. She was the biggest fan of my music so to make sure she forever lives on in my life and in my music I decided to put her last voicemail she ever sent me at the end of the song. It kills me every time I hear it, but it's a perfect bookend to her life, this song, and my grieving.”

‘Cry & Drive’ is the first taste from CXLOE’s upcoming second body of work which follows last year’s debut EP Heavy Part I which attracted critical acclaim and contributed to CXLOE’s music being streamed more than 50 million times across the world to date.

This month also see’s CXLOE return to the stage as she embarks on the Australia wide Heavy Part I tour. Tickets are on sale now, see below for dates and venues.

With a soundscape that covers electronica, alt-pop and dark-pop CXLOE is an artist who over the last few years has grown from talented newcomer to major star of the future. Her music is unique, intimate and always special and ‘Cry & Drive’ hints at even greater things to come from her in 2021.
