Sydney singer-songwriter Csöke (pronounced ‘shock’) released her first new music in a year earlier this month with the single ‘I Think I’m Falling’. Written and produced with fellow artist Chelsea Warner and engineered by Tahlia-Rose Coleman, the song was created by an all female team, with the music video also directed by women.

The track is a gorgeous, dreamy mix of R&B, funk and pop with blasts of brass instruments and lyrically explores the experience of falling in love when you were confident it was the last thing you were going to do.

“I found it hard to let people in, even myself,” Csöke says. “I was scared to let someone love me, be vulnerable and allow myself the possibility of having my heart broken. I had myself for so long, I got used to having my guard up and only relying on myself. The idea of relying on someone else freaked me out.”

Csöke has been releasing music since 2019 and last year released her debut EP F.W.M. With a soundscape that encompasses carefree bright pop, moody electro and swaggering R&B, her output so far clearly marks her out as an artist on track to be one of Australia’s breakthrough pop artists in the coming years.

To celebrate the release of ‘I Think I’m Falling’ and the incredible Australian women making music, Csöke penned a list of her top 5 female Australian artists exclusively for Women In Pop.

Top 5 Aussie queens that slay and why I love them

1. I have to start with my queen, Kylie Minogue - the OG Kylie of the world. Iconic song one after another and her shows are to die for. Are you kidding me? She will forever be my queen and her live shows look INSANE.

2. Iggy Azalea - I don’t care what anyone says, she is a hot mama who's got it going on. Whether her performance is amazing or questionable she’s able to have fun and own her flaws like a boss. Her TikToks are also mad funny.

3. Tina Arena - the woman is iconic and I don't feel like this generation knows how incredible she is. If you haven’t heard her before, stop reading this and listen to ‘Chains’ and get stuck in your feels.

4. Aya Yves - she is perfection. You can see the love she has for her craft in the details she brings to her music and live shows. The passion and rawness of everything she does astounds me and I have such a deep respect for her. A beautiful soul inside and out, i’m lucky to know her.

5. Chymes - this girl slays in every way. She is my alternative pop princess in every way. I am a friend but an even bigger fan. Every song is a bop, I swear I don’t know how she has me hanging on to every new release and vocally live, she's flawless. I haven’t met anyone else like her. I admire the crap out of her. Her producer Cameron is also a gem of a human and a great ally to women.
