Rising Australian star bella amor has released her new single ‘simon says’ ahead of her debut EP this is where i’m at, which will drop on 1 August.

Written with and produced by Chris Collins, ‘simon says’ sees amor at her most personal and vulnerable as she sings of self doubt and a fear of opening up to other people. ‘It’s the reason I’m so scared / I don’t know me but I’d rather play it safe / So at least I know you’re there’. The song is set to a guitar pop soundscape which moves from gentle and pared back to a louder, more intense sound to match the angst in the lyrics.

“‘simon says’ is for those who struggle showing their emotions or their true self. it’s hard out here but we’re in it together,” amor says.

The song is the latest taste from amor’s debut EP this is where i’m at, out on 1 August. With production from Alice Ivy and Chris Collins, the EP is amor in her truest form as she sings about the highs and lows of falling in and out of love. The release of the EP will be followed by a headline tour across the east coast, with amor performing in the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne across August. Tickets are on sale now.

Since she released her debut single ‘can’t get laid’ just three years ago, amor has quickly become one of Australia’s brightest young talents. Her 2022 debut headline show sold out, and she has since performed at BIGSOUND, Grapevine Gathering and Groovin’ The Moo, as well as supporting major artists such as Lime Cordiale, King Stingray and Benson Boone. Her debut EP is the latest benchmark in her burgeoning career and with its honesty, vulnerability and relatability will without a doubt showcase exactly why she has everything it takes to be a superstar.

‘simon says’ is out now via Sony Music. You can download and stream here.
