Pop icon Belinda Carlisle has returned new singke ‘Big Big Love’, lifted from her upcoming EP Kismet due out on May 12.

Produced by Mati Gavriel, the single sees Carlisle reunited with songwriter Diane Warren, who was also behind her 1980s hit ‘I Get Weak’. ‘Big Big Love’ is a throwback to the 1980s and is a glittering synthpop anthem, with moments of brooding darkness leading into an uplifting chorus with gorgeous backing vocals adding layers and texture.

“Twenty-six years on from making my last English language pop record I really wasn’t thinking I would ever make one again…… and I was quite happy with that idea,” Carlisle says. “Then a chance encounter in a coffee shop led me back to the wonderful Diane Warren and she gave me the incredible gift of this song and the other songs on my upcoming EP. Diane’s song writing is both a joy and mystery to me. She makes it look so easy, where I imagine it must be unbelievably hard, to do what she does so amazingly well over so many years and so many records. I can’t thank her enough for writing this music for me and I only hope everyone else loves it as much as I do.”

‘Big Big Love’ will feature on Carlisle’s first ever EP Kismet that will be released digitally on May 12. Featuring five tracks, all written by Warren, it is her first English language collection of new studio material to be released since her 1996 album A Woman & A Man.

“I'm so excited for everyone to hear Belinda’s new record. She’s never sounded better,” Warren says. “It's so great to be working together again after all these years.  From “I Get Weak” and now to “Big Big Love,” a new chapter has begun.  I can't wait for everyone to hear these new hits!”

Carlisle first shot to fame in the ground breaking all female band the Go-Gos in 1978, who scored a US number 1 with their debut album Beauty and the Beat. After the band broke up in 1985, Carlisle launched a solo career and become one of the biggest pop stars of the late 1980s and early 1990s with hits such as ‘Heaven Is A Place On Earth’, ‘Leave A Light On’ and ‘Summer Rain’. Carlisle will be bringing all her hits to Australia later this year in her much anticipated Decades Tour.

One of the greatest artists of her generation, the return of Belinda Carlisle is one of this year’s musical highlights. With more music to come, this new era of her music is shaping up to be one of her best yet.
