Australia’s favourite pop star Amy Shark today announces that her third album Sunday Sadness will be released on August 16. The next taste of the album, the single ‘Loving Me Lover’ is also released today.

‘Loving Me Lover’ is a bright, summery pop track which Shark says is about the guilt of being away from your loved one and enjoying the feeling of being alone.

“‘Loving Me Lover’ is a dreamy love song, based around happy guilt,” she says. “I was in LA by myself working on music, there were things happening back home, people missing me being around and I remember feeling guilty enjoying this completely different life. Hence the line ‘fighting forever / So stop loving me lover.’”

Along with previous singles ‘Can I Shower At Yours’ and ‘Beautiful Eyes’, ‘Loving Me Lover’ will feature on Shark’s third studio album Sunday Sadness. Shark’s first album in three years, it will feature eleven tracks and production from Kid Harpoon, Joel Little, Sam DeJong and Matt Corby amongst others.

“I specifically wrote this album on Sundays, constantly daydreaming about the happiest moments and the worst, remembering the best people while still getting over others. I am different on Sundays, I am not sure why, but I bet you are too,” Shark says. I think about my life so much on Sundays, my family, my friends and probably you. I’m still learning people, I’m still trying to be a better person, Sunday Sadness has every emotion I feel, you'll smile in some songs and feel the love - but you'll also be sad and probably not sleep well this Sunday night".

Since breaking through in 2016 with the single ‘Adore’ Amy Shark has become one of Australia’s biggest music artists, and with her role as a judge on the last two seasons of the revamped Australian Idol she is quickly moving into music royalty territory. Over the last few years, she has collaborated with some of music’s biggest artists, including Ed Sheeran, Keith Urban and Travis Barker. Sunday Sadness, with its personal stories, incredible songs and Shark inimitable charisma and warmth, is set to be not only another impressive addition to Shark’s incredible music portfolio, but one of 2024’s most exciting music moments.
